A Virus that has actually been out for awhile is making the rounds again. The problem is that AOL users who use the AOL desktop gold to retrieve their mail may not have protection against the malicious code. Most Anti-virus programs can not scan aol’s mail because it’s not being downloaded to your machine. The virus comes in as an e-mail with the subject line similar to “I hacked your computer and require you to pay”. If you open the email, it launches code that will steal your AOL password, and enter it into the email body where the text shows you your password. If you don’t open the email it doesn’t get your password. If you have seen this e-mail change your password immediately. If you use an email client like thunderbird or outlook, your Anti-virus should detect and block it.
